Welcome to Bob Dixon, LPC
And He put all things under His feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church,
which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
-Ephesians 1:22, 23
Bob Dixon is the author of The Uriah Syndrome: The Misuse and Abuse of Authority in the Church. He is also a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia and has over thirty years of experience as a member of Sovereign Grace Ministries (SGM), currently named Sovereign Grace Churches (SGC), known to many as a heavy-handed, authoritarian church movement. Before leaving the organization in 2012, he spent approximately twelve years exposing and confronting spiritually abusive practices, he believed, were systemic to their organization and church culture. As a result, Bob is able to understand and address many of the problematic issues that come from the misuse and abuse of authority in the church and how abusive practices manifest in the lives of their members. He has become very familiar with peculiar nuances often found in these types of churches and how they can result in problematic emotional, psychological, and spiritual issues.
Bob currently resides in Richmond, Virginia with his wife, Marsha. He has a particular interest to provide counseling to those affected by spiritual abuse and serve as a consultant for congregations interested in implementing reform in church structure and culture. He also has a passion to help the next generation establish vibrant house churches throughout the United States and beyond.
